Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Farmington Centers, Inc. We were founded in 1989 by Jeff and Ted Chamberlain, two brothers who grew up in Portland, Oregon. During the 1970’s and 80’s the Chamberlains owned and operated skilled nursing facilities. In 1985 they sold the skilled nursing business and began to explore investing in the relatively new category of assisted living. In 1989 the Chamberlains acquired their first two assisted living properties in Beaverton and Salem, which continue to be part of the core Farmington portfolio today. During the next five years the Chamberlains developed four additional assisted living properties in Tualatin, Eugene, Gresham and Medford and expanded the original Beaverton and Salem facilities. The Beaverton and Salem plans were used as a prototype for the four newly developed properties. By 1996 the overall portfolio consisted of six properties containing 442 units/beds. By 2007, the Company had grown to its current size, with 15 properties and 1340 units.
Farmington specializes in creating environments for seniors which maximize their life experiences. We pride ourselves on being small enough to care a little more. We offer all levels of senior housing, from skilled nursing services to independent living cottages. Our goals are to provide the best possible care and surroundings for our residents; to provide our associates with a steady, dependable employment opportunity in a non-stressful workplace; and to provide our financial partners with a reasonable return on their capital. To accomplish these goals, in 2008 Farmington underwent a dramatic change. Part of that change was the development of a true strategic plan for the Company. As a result of that process, we changed the mission, vision and values of the Company. They are:
